The latest quake to hit Bodrum at the beginning of August reached a magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale and comes just days after the last quake hit the Turkish town.
July’s earthquake saw popular resorts suffer collapsed buildings and flooding due to a tsunami that followed the initial shock. Over 120 people were injured as they tried to flee their hotels – including Thomson, Thomas Cook and First Choice passengers – and tragically, two people lost their lives. Tens of thousands were said to have spent the following nights outdoors, out of fear for what the aftershocks might do to the remains of their hotels.
