Top 5 Family Friendly Holiday Destinations

Time spent as a family is time well spent. And, where better to capture those precious moments than while on holiday?

We work hard all year round to save up for family holidays, so picking the right destination is important.

With so many amazing destinations to visit, you can often feel like you’re spoilt for choice – so we’ve decided to whittle it down to five different destinations.

However, we’ve based our choices on one important thing – variety.

Are you a family of adrenaline junkies?

Perhaps you love to explore the world’s great cities?

Or, maybe you just want to lie on the beach for a week?

Whatever you enjoy doing as a family – we hope this helps you find some inspiration ahead of your next trip!

Mallorca, Balearic Islands

So, we’ll start with everybody’s favourite summer holiday.

Mallorca is an easy choice.

Two hours on a plane, beaches, waterparks, and all the sunshine you could possibly ask for from May through to October.

What else could a family wish for in the school holidays?

Mallorca holidays aren’t limited to lounging the sun all day, either. When the sun goes down, family resorts often play host to a wide variety of fun for all.

Live music shows, games and many other exciting activities take place within and outside of the hotel. If budget getaways on are your thing – Mallorca is a great option.

Orlando, Florida

Action-packed, exciting and unforgettable – this is the family experience of a lifetime.

From the wonder of Disney’s Magic Kingdom to the exhilaration of Universal Studios – Orlando holidays are truly special for kids (big and small!).

You could stay in the Walt Disney Resort, or stay in a private villa if you’d prefer. If you hire a car, you can check out everything the state of Florida has to offer – from the sun-drenched beaches of Miami to the Everglades National Park.

If you head south, you can hop across the Overseas Highway to Florida Keys, where you’ll find some of the world’s most magnificent coral reefs – so snorkelling is a must here.

Lapland, Finland

The ultimate festive getaway.

This winter wonderland forms the northernmost region of Finland – and families flock there in their thousands each year to sample everything this unique part of the world has to offer.

There’s reindeer trekking for kids, while the adults can sample a range of different snow sports – from skiing to snowmobiling. If you’re lucky you might even catch a glimpse of the northern lights, depending on whereabouts you stay.

Lapland is a vast place, with many resorts – however, the capital is Rovaniemi, where you’ll find lively bars and restaurants. The Levi ski resort is a great place for people who have a particular interest in skiing – whether that’s beginners or even more experienced thrill-seekers.

New York City, New York

For a big trip in a big city – where better than the Big Apple?

Since it’s a city that has something for everyone, New York city breaks are perfect for families of all sizes.

In the morning, you might climb the Empire State, before an afternoon stroll in Central Park, watch a Broadway show in the evening, and since this the city that never sleeps – head over to Times Square before bed.

With so many classic American diners concentrated in one place, you won’t go hungry here, either. Since New York is one of the most multicultural places on Earth – you’ll also find a wide variety of continental eating spots too depending on what you prefer.

Tenerife, Canary Islands

So, we’re back at the beach again – with another Spanish island.

The difference with Tenerife though, is that you’re virtually guaranteed the sun all year round – given its position off the tropical West African coast.

So, if you want to take the family away for some winter sun – Tenerife is an ideal choice.

This volcanic island is home to rugged mountain ranges, pulsating water sports, and lively night time entertainment.

You can also climb aboard one of the many adventurous boat trips on offer if you want to go whale and dolphin watching.

Either way, whatever activities you choose to get up to as a family – it’s best to declare these when shopping around for travel insurance ahead of your trip.

For example, are you thinking of planning a ski trip to Levi?

Why not compare winter sports travel insurance to get the best possible cover?

It’s important to carefully consider your travel itinerary to get the best travel insurance. Then you can enjoy your holiday knowing you and your family are fully covered!
