Alert Travellers Boarding Passes–Beware

Do you know how much information your boarding pass holds?

If you’re like most of us, you don’t and when your trip’s over you just leave it somewhere like your front seat magazine pouch.

But beware.

Recently a traveller took a photo of their boarding pass and posted it on social media before they went on holiday. One of his friends decided to see what’s what was able to find, through the QR code, all the passenger’s personal information; airline account number, frequent flyer details, phone number, to name but a few.

According to security website, Krebs On Security, and reported by The Independent newspaper, our boarding passes contain a lot of information about ourselves, "Two-dimensional barcodes and QR codes can hold a great deal of information, and the codes printed on airline boarding passes may allow someone to discover more about you, your future travel plans, and your frequent flyer account.”

So next time you travel, make sure you take your boarding pass with you – and do not share it on social media!

We hope this helps and have a great trip.
