Music Lovers Listen Up BA Will Fly Direct To New Orleans From March

New Orleans is an American city like no other. It’s the beating heart and soul of the South. As a melting pot of culture and music fused together with a little bit of voodoo magic, it is no surprise that the city’s rich history and culture has long magnetized travellers from across the world.

And from next year it will be even easier to get there thanks to new routes announced by British Airways. They’re launching a service that will connect Heathrow to New Orleans from March 2017.

According to Business Traveller, the new route will run four times a week and is the first flight operated by the airline to the city since the early 1980s.

Flights start from £599 in World Traveller, £899 in World Traveller Plus and £1,749 in Club World. BA will initially be the only airline that provides direct flights between the two cities.

Travellers will be able to fly to the Big Easy on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Departure flights are set to leave at 15:40 and travellers can expect to arrive in the Crescent City at 19:40 local time. Flights back will leave Louis Armstrong New Orleans International airport at 21:10 and arrive in London for 12:00 the following day.

Sean Doyle, BA's director of Networks and Alliances, commented: “We are really excited to be adding New Orleans to British Airways’ extensive global network. It’s a city that boasts an iconic music and arts scene and plays host to more than 45 international festivals a year, including the world famous Mardi Gras.

“Holidaymakers can enjoy the jazz and blues music trails, visit the historic sugarcane plantations, cruise down the Mississippi River or relax on the unspoiled Gulf Shores and Orange Beaches which are just a short drive away.

“More than 80,000 visitors head to Louisiana and New Orleans every year and we are confident this route will be a big hit with British tourists as well as business travellers.”

With Mardi Gras kicking off in February, whatever your age or outlook, there has never been a better time to visit New Orleans. All you need now is the ideal insurance plan and you can boogie the night away without a care in the world.
