Zika Virus Travel Update

News out today from the World Health Organisation (WHO) has rejected calls to halt the Rio Olympic Games this year due to the Zika virus.

The risk is said to be not high enough to cause concern or warrant such a drastic course of action.

The Zika virus is spread through infected mosquitoes. Symptoms can include rash, fever and joint pain.

It is advisable that pregnant women avoid travelling to Rio de Janeiro this summer as infection could cause abnormalities to their babies.

If you are thinking of travelling to the north of Brazil this summer, don’t forget your travel insurance.
