Yosemite National Park
Escape in the vast wilderness that is Yosemite National Park.
Known for its impressive waterfalls, there is so much to see when visiting here.

A truly beautiful place to visit.
It’s no surprise that the Golden Great Bridge is one of the wonders of the modern world.
Built with around 88,000 tons of steel and at 1.7 miles long, this architectural marvel is even more impressive in real life.
The bridge connects San Francisco Bay to Marin County, from which a ferry was once the only method of transport.
As you can see from the picture, views of the bridge can be appreciated regardless of the time of day.
Napa Valley Vineyards
California is well-established in wine production, and you can understand why when you look at the impressive vineyards within Napa Valley.
The vineyards themselves are scattered all over the countryside, with rows and rows of beautiful greenery.
Regular balloon rides take flight in Napa Valley, allowing you to appreciate the impressive scenery in its full glory.
And whilst visiting, a wine tour is a must-do.
Located in eastern California, this is a popular spot to photograph.
Hardly surprising when you look at the picture.
Its popularity is largely due to the vast emptiness you see.
Just a long winding road which takes you through the desert.
Hardly any plants survive in the sweltering temperatures.
In fact, Death Valley is the hottest and driest place in north America.
A real contrast to the pacific coastline.
A castle is definitely not the first thing that springs to mind when you think of visiting California, however this hidden gem is worth visiting if you have time.
Located on a ranch in the heart of San Simeon, the history of this castle dates back to 1865.
And by looking at the picture, you’d think this was located in a European country such as Spain.
The castle is surrounded by gardens, outbuildings and even a swimming pool.
So this is really just a snippet of what you can explore on the ranch.
Joshua Tree National Park
Named after the tree you can see in the below image, this national park is a real step into the wilderness.
The point at which the Mojave and Colorado desert eco-systems join together.
And as you can see from the picture, the land might be dry and rocky – but don’t let that put you off.
There’s so much to see and do, including hiking, rock climbing, walking and the opportunity to take in the vast surroundings.
Not to mention the wildlife too – the opportunity to spot birds, coyotes and around 44 species of reptile.
Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this fresh water lake is picture perfect.
Split into the north and south, both ends of the lake offer an array of beaches and mountainous ski resorts – so there’s something for everyone.
There’s a 72-mile-long trip around the lake – so if you plan to visit, and hire a car, consider doing ‘The Most Beautiful Drive in America’.
And what’s unique about here. You can take to the lake in a canoe on a summers day, and look up to the snow-capped mountains.
If you are looking for a place to unwind then San Diego should definitely be somewhere you visit.
San Diego not only boasts a bustling downtown district which is located next to a busy marina, but also has the advantage of endless coastline.
Which, as you can see from the picture, is a real surfer’s paradise, due to the strength of the waves.
Grab a bite to eat at a beach front restaurant and enjoy an evening watching the sunset as the waves crash against the shoreline.
Something which I loved doing whilst visiting!
Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles
Grab a car, or take a hike to the Griffith observatory.
A place which really takes your breath away.
Although located in Los Angeles, you are able to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of the Hollywood Boulevard, and really appreciate the breath taking views.
As the picture shows, you can see for miles on a clear day.
Including getting a view of the iconic Hollywood sign.
You shouldn’t just look out however, Griffith Observatory is filled with telescopes allowing you to look up to the skies in the evening.
The opportunity to go star gazing and appreciate the beauty of the universe.
