A pre-existing medical condition means a condition that you have been diagnosed or treated for before you take out your travel insurance policy. This may be a health condition you have now or one that you no longer suffer from but have had in the past. Whilst you’ll need to tell us about most pre-existing health conditions if you have been diagnosed or treated for them (including repeat prescriptions) within the last 2 years, some conditions, such as heart or respiratory-related conditions, we’ll need to know if you’ve ever had them.

Over 65s annual multi-trip or single-trip cover

One of the most important things you should consider before getting covered is the type of policy you need.

If you want to cover just one trip abroad, single-trip travel insurance is probably the best option.

However, annual multi-trip insurance can cover multiple trips over the year - so, depending on your travel plans, you may decide that this is, in fact, a more sensible and cost-effective type of policy for your needs.

You can select either a single trip or annual multi-trip cover before you compare quotes with us to ensure you buy travel insurance that works for you.

Are there different levels of over 65s insurance cover?

In general, once you’ve listed your personal details (including age), information about your trip, and declared any medical conditions, you’re likely to find that cover usually varies from provider to provider.

You’ll see that the more expensive policies generally offer more coverage than the cheaper insurance deals - and you should always prioritise the level of protection over cost just to make sure you’re fully protected.

You can even add additional cover on to your single trip or annual multi-trip policy if you want to ensure your travel insurance covers a particular holiday type or circumstance. These optional extras include:

Frequently Asked Questions

Older travellers can compare different types of cover thanks to the sheer number of providers we work with. We can also find you cover for your pre-existing medical conditions

Travel insurance is an important part of planning a holiday - no matter how old you are. Therefore, it’s important to ensure you get it before you travel - including cover for pre-existing medical conditions.

Exclusions will vary from provider to provider. Some might have specific exclusions; for example, they might cap the duration of cover they offer. We’ll only ever show you quotes that are relevant to the information you’ve given us, and you should always check the provider's full list of exclusions before purchasing.

We’ll ask you for details of your trip and information about what coverage you need. You’ll also be able to tell us about any medical conditions using our simple online screening tool – no need to call a provider or write to us - and the cost of your travel insurance will be calculated. It’s that easy!

Cost varies from provider to provider, but things like age, destination, and duration of stay are usually the main factors that apply to cost. This is why comparing travel insurance quotes is essential so that you know you’re getting a fair price for the cover you need.

“Pre-existing” refers to any medical condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment was recommended or received before applying for a travel insurance policy. For some conditions, we'll need to know if they have ever been present, whilst, for others, we need to know if they occurred within a certain period

We'll ask you a series of questions about the medical history for you and any travellers on your quote. If you answer yes to any of these, you will need to tell us more about that condition. This could be a condition that a traveller has now or has had in the past. This makes it easy to know what you need to disclose.

If you are not sure what conditions you need to declare, we have online support available to help you 24/7!

It’s easy to tell us about your medical conditions! After you've provided your trip details and answered some medical history questions, you can add your pre-existing conditions, one by one, for each traveller on your policy. You'll only need to enter your details once; it's all online, and there's no need to call or provide details of your conditions in writing.
